04RECOGNITION

Is MBBS in Albania Valid in India?

NMC- and WHO-approved medical colleges in Albania offer a globally recognised MBBS degree because they follow the NMC guidelines, so it is very much valid in India. Upon completion of your MBBS programme, clearing the FMGE and one-year mandatory supervised clinical training in an Indian hospital, you are eligible to practice as a licentiate doctor in India.

The Five NMC Conditions, Checked One-by-One

Condition 1

The MBBS you pursue in a foreign medical school, for example, at the University of Medicine, Tirana, Albania, must meet the minimum duration of 54 months and clear the other conditions as mentioned by the NMC.

Condition 2

MoE states that the medical course in Albania, including all 19 compulsory subjects, should be taught in English.

Condition 3

The MBBS course must combine theory, clinical training, and internship, which are similar to those of the MBBS degree offered in India.

Condition 4

The students must complete the last-year mandatory clinical rotation at the same university that teaches the MBBS programme; unless it is completed successfully, it will not be considered a full degree.

Condition 5

The MBBS graduates from Albania must fulfil the other requirements set by the NMC, including the FMGE screening test and compulsory supervised clinical training in India to obtain the license.

What this means for you: If you come back to India without the clinical training of 1 year from the same University where you studied the MBBS programme, your degree will not be valid, and you will not be able to appear for the FMGE or obtain a license to practice in India. MBBS in Albania Eligibility Requirements
